FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oct. 20, 2026

RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy (VICPP) will host three Souls to the Polls events on Sunday, Oct. 25, at two locations in Richmond and one in Chesterfield, bringing faith communities and neighbors together for music, food and fellowship while encouraging eligible voters to cast their ballots ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.

Two events in Richmond will take place at early voting sites, giving attendees a chance to vote on-site.

A third event at Union Grove Baptist Church in South Chesterfield will serve as a convening site for several congregations that are coming together for this event. Many will be carpooling to vote early at Ettrick-Matoaca Library, about 3.5 miles away.

The events will feature a DJ, fish fry and fellowship. VICPP staff and volunteers will also host information tables to answer questions about voting

“Faith communities have an important role to play in strengthening civic engagement and encouraging people to make their voices heard,” said the Rev. Dr. LaKeisha Cook, executive director of VICPP. “Souls to the Polls brings people together in a spirit of community and celebration while reminding us that participating in our democracy is an essential civic responsibility.”
