Virginia Interfaith Center will bring 300 faith leaders and advocates
to lobby at the General Assembly on Wed. Jan. 22, 2020 for “Day for All People”

“This is one of the most exciting days of the year where hundreds of people of all faiths and backgrounds come together with a powerful voice to advocate justice at the General Assembly, said Kim Bobo, VICPP’s Executive Director.

RICHMOND – Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy’s (VICPP) annual “Day for All People” will be held on Wed., Jan. 22, 2020. More than 300 people from churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, universities and organizations across Virginia will travel to Richmond to make their voices heard(Video from 2019 event).

VICPP is supporting legislation including: paid sick days for workers, wage theft reform, predatory lending reform, immigrant rights, and environmental justice.

The day begins with expert briefings on key legislation that VICPP is supporting, and then participants meet with their Delegates and Senators to advocate specific bills.

Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., President and CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus will offer a keynote address at 2:30 at Centenary United Methodist Church. A minister and community activist, Rev. Yearwood is one of the most influential people in Hip Hop political life, focused on encouraging young people to utilize their political and social voice.

As Virginia’s oldest faith-based advocacy group, VICPP is a non-partisan coalition of 25,000 activists and 750 faith communities working for a more just society. VICPP works with faith leaders, congregations, coalitions, and community groups, to educate the public, organize grassroots campaigns, and advocate economic, racial, social and environmental justice legislation during the General Assembly.
