Richmond VA, March 29, 2024. – The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is disappointed that Governor Youngkin has vetoed the minimum wage.
“Raising the minimum wage is one of the best ways we can care and show love for our neighbor,” said Kim Bobo, Executive Director of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy. “Wages should allow you to lift your family from poverty.”
Two weeks ago, the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy released a statement from more than 400 religious leaders, including many bishops and judicatory leaders, calling upon the Governor to increase the minimum wage. The Virginia Interfaith will continue its efforts to improve wages, benefits, and working conditions for workers in low-wage jobs.
