The purpose of the Living Wage Virginia Program is to recognize employers that are committed to paying living wages that are above current the state and federal minimum wage standards, and that increase periodically to account for increases in cost of living.

Living Wage Virginia Program tier system:

  • Aspiring – Equivalent to at least $15 per hour
  • Silver – Equivalent of Tier 1 with Living Wage for Us (varies, see wage map)
  • Gold – Equivalent of Tier 2 with Living Wage for Us (varies, see wage map)

Additional employer-provided benefits that will be recognized include:

  • Child care assistance
  • Collective bargaining agreements (union contracts)
  • Disability insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Housing assistance
  • Paid sick days
  • Paid time off (vacation, holidays, etc.)
  • Parental leave
  • Retirement plan
  • Scholarships or continuing education support
  • Second chance employer
