VICPP learned that on Thursday Pastor Juan Gutierrez Palomino was deported to Peru by ICE. His wife and children in Dumfries, all U.S. citizens, are left without their father, husband and breadwinner. People of every faith call for an end to destroying families and irreparably harming communities.
Recently Pastor Juan’s wife, Aurelia, spoke to a group of supporters and shared her deep sadness at being without her husband. She is afraid of losing the family’s home. And the church he has pastored is grieving the loss of their leader. Aurelia says Pastor Juan was always helping to meet the needs of his community. Now he is not present to even provide for his own family.
“We call on ICE to immediately release immigrants being detained and end deportations. Our communities are suffering,” said Lana Health de Martinez, Welcoming All Coordinator, Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy.”
