Join us at First Baptist Church in the Murray Center Building to celebrate the launch of Virginia Interfaith Center’s new chapter. The Hampton Roads chapter will bring together people of faith advocate social, economic, and environmental justice for their community and the entire state.

We will also be thanking Senator Lionell Spruill for his leadership on one of Virginia Interfaith Center’s legislative priorities: SB 1079

This bill, now a law, removes Jim Crow-era, discriminatory language that stated “newsboys, shoe-shine boys, ushers, doormen and cashiers in theaters,” would be exempt from Virginia’s minimum wage requirements. These jobs, historically held by African-Americans, will now be paid at least minimum wage.

Lunch will be served
