VICPP has long had a focus on ensuring that all Virginians have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare and we are so excited that the Virginia General Assembly has finally expanded Medicaid!  Approximately 400,000 Virginians will benefit from expansion.  We are working to educate congregations and individuals on enrollment and fighting the work requirements.

Issues

Health Care Hope

The Virginia Interfaith Center of Public Policy is dedicated to educating communities about the benefits of Medicaid Expansion. As part of this effort, we equip faith communities across the Commonwealth with resources to reach the uninsured and underinsured. Through Health Care Hope you can take action and deliver hope by praying for the uninsured and under-insured and so much more.

Medicaid Expansion

Medicaid expansion is limited to low-income children, women, older adults and people with disabilities who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI). According to the Affordable Care Act, individual states can expand Medicaid to uninsured adults and children whose incomes are at or below 138% of the poverty level. States who expand their Medicaid programs could benefit hospitals and communities as well as uninsured individuals.

Immigrant Health

Qualified non-citizens are eligible for coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. These immigrants can buy private health insurance on the Marketplace and may be eligible for lower costs on monthly premiums and lower out of pocket costs based on income. Undocumented immigrants are not eligible to buy benefits on the Marketplace.
